Finally
HBB steel 357 finally got here yesterday. Went to range today and shot 50 rounds of 357/158gr to get used to the rifle. Then 20 rounds each of 38 special, 2 different 158gr and 125gr. All shot great with no issues. Wow, is this fun to shoot. I need to adjust the rear sight as everything was on the right side of the target.

Re: Finally
Factory ammo. Not for hunting, needed a rifle to go with my 357/38 handguns.

Re: Finally
looking forward to your coming range reports and use impressions .... just as a side note, there is a long standing concern with firing 38's in a 357 .... that being a burnt powder buildup at tip of the shorter 38 brass which can impede smooth chambering of a longer 357 round

Re: Finally
357 is a great choice for a levergun. I enjoy mine every time I take them to the range.

Re: Finally
Congrats on your new .357/.38 Henry! You'll be enjoying that one. Also agree with what JEBar said about carbon build-up. But, with a good cleaning, you will be good. .38spl's are like a .22lr out of my Henry. Enjoy!

Re: Finally
Congrats GTGeorge on that new .357 BBS ! That .357 rifle is a great shooter as I too have found.
Do you have a SA revolver in .357 to buddy up with it? Mine eats up the .38 Specials with no problems and I do give the chamber a clean up.
A few pictures if you get a chance!

Re: Finally
I have a Ruger Blackhawk 357 that I also shoot 38. What I do is alternate between the two on range trips. I am aware of the issue with a steady diet of 38. The reason I bought the HBB 357 was to go with my Blackhawk and my 38 revolver.

Re: Finally
Every time I go to the range I take the BBB in 357/38 ... I shoot a range of pistols that I own but the Henry is like the icing on the cake ...and you save the icing for last. It is a sweet rifle ... Congratulations and enjoy.

Re: Finally
I enjoyed my Henry 22 carbine so much I bought a BBB carbine in 45 last year and then turned around and bought a Blackhawk in 45Colt to go with it. I enjoy that so much I decided to buy a BBB carbine in 357 last Saturday. I’ve had it to the range 3 times this week and really enjoy it too. Looks like I’m going to have to spring for a Blackhawk in 357/38 & 9mm now.
I never paid much attention to lever guns until my wife gave me the 22 for my 70th birthday and now I’m hooked and she has a Henry Carbine 22 also. Actually it’s the one she gave me for my birthday so I went out and bought myself another one.

Re: Finally
I did the same when I bought my BBS in .357 Mag. I went out and bought an EMF/Pietta Deluxe Californian SAA in .357. A fine lever gun needs a SAA gun as a companion.
