We have what was supposed to be an old enclosed area in our yard that a garden used to be in it. Probably fenced in 30 years ago with chicken wire, and attached to T-rail pots driven into the ground. Today I started pulling it down. Saplings, trees and bush all intertwined with the old wire. Holy smokes what a job to get into the tangled mess and start to cut & pull that stuff out. Got half done, do the rest tomorrow. Once done, all the spindly little trees and bush are coming out, and cut the grass there. Then it's just part of the lawn and will look much better right behind our house.
Arthritis is giving me hell tonight though! Hands, wrists, and elbows....inherited that from my mother's side of the family, but she's still doing stuff like that at 90 so I'll quit whining now.

My son lives in Edmonton about 7 hours away, but he would help if he was here...would take some coaxing though...

My yard chore lately has been shredding up the magnolia leaves that fall this time of year from the large tree in our front yard.
The constant wind we get just keeps them falling. I let them pile up a bit then get the Kubota tractor out and it shreds them and blows them away like a lawn sweeper. Beats the old way of hours of raking!
The magnolia flowers are blooming out now too....smells real good!

Last week finished up the hedges and what not in the back yard (suburbanite homeowner here). Got one of those super-duper Harbor Freight chippers to grind everything up. Won't take much anything larger than your thumb, tho. This week gotta' get to the crape myrtle in the front. We have a big live oak in the front that I leave to the professionals.
