That looks more like furniture than a working bench. I mean that in a good way. I imagine it will hurt the first time you get a chisel gouge, or a hammer mark on it.

Nice work!

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. This is something I have wanted and been pricing for a couple of decades. Decided to attempt making a heritage wood working bench 2 years ago and bought plans and found the wood I wanted. Local mill had salvaged ash, remains from the emerald ash borer that devastated almost all of the ash trees. Probably my last big project and I want it built as well as I am able. This type of construction is new to me and I am trying to figure things out as I go. So it is SLOW. I have made changes in the plans to include a better front vice and end vice. These two items have added a new rifle's cost to the construction but I only have one bench in me so I need it right. I am making this to use with smaller projects so dings and gouges are expected and I am looking forward to using it.

It is finally a base. Between the snow, doctors appointments and the dentist I got the last piece made and installed. It checked out square so I added the vice which is going to be cut down even with the top so about 4 inches off.
