the regular season is pretty much over and conference tournaments are underway ... we are following the ACC Tournament .... some close games but no real first round shockers .... looking forward to Notre Dame vs Virginia Tech game that is getting ready to tip off .... we are pulling for the Irish but the talking heads are all picking the Hokies

there are 4 games on tap for today ---- in the first game Syracuse’s 77-74 loss to Wake Forest ---- 2:30 Georgia Tech vs. Pitt --- 7:00 Boston College & University of NC ---- 9:30 Virginia Tech & NC State

The #2 seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs of the WCC (West Coast Conference) beat #1 seeded Saint Marys in the conference championship game by a mere 27 points Tuesday night. Gonzaga and Saint Marys tied for the regular season championship and Saint Marys got the #1 seed due to the Ken Pom rankings. Gonzaga is not used to not being the #1 seed and put a mighty whooping on Saint Marys. The Bulldogs led by 37 in the second half and cleared the bench thus leading to the “only” 27 point win. Thinking the Zags were just a little pissed. HA!

Now it’s on the the National Championship where the Bulldogs should be seeded a 2 or a 3. A bit off of the #1 seed they have had the last few years.

Duke topped a very good Virginia team by 10 .... 59 - 49 .... while Duke was in front from the opening tip but never by enough to be comfortable

Congrats to Duke. I was reading on the Gonzaga forum that Duke is peaking at the perfect time. Some of the guys while discussing potential matchups have commented, “hope we don’t meet Duke”.

Looking forward to the Selection Sunday show, hope the Zags don’t get shipped out east. The three hour time difference can be difficult if in addition you draw an early game.

Yes, what a couple of upsets. I follow both of these teams as the coaches have ties to local teams. Tony Bennett of Virginia used to be the coach of the Washington State Cougars and was very successful here with a few trips to the Tournament. Tommy Lloyd the coach of Arizona used to be the top assistant coach of Gonzaga. I have lots of respect for both coaches and am sad to see them out.

Go Zags, tip tonight at 4:35 Pacific time.

Gonzaga played an ugly first half but a better second half last night. Only beat the 14 seed Grand Canyon by 12 after being up by 22 mid way thru the second. Sadly USC (California) lost which is my grandson’s team, hoped they would win a game or two.
