Next week I am driving with my elderly mother to Sanibel, Florida, where she will spend six weeks away from winter. I will rest up for a coupla days, and then fly back to Wisconsin. At the end of February, I will go back and spend a week there, and we will drive home together.

That sounds like a good plan, Dave. I hope your Mom enjoys her 6 week visit in the Florida sunshine. ;)

Am back in Florida until Sunday. Weather has been sunny and warm- mid-80's. It's really nice here, but I don't have anywhere to shoot. :(

Been to Florida a few times over the years....hot & humid. Tough to get used to.

I live in SW FL. Sanibel is a tourista trap.

Yup. Beautiful place, but they have definitely perfected the art of separating visitors from their money. :)

If around Ft Meyers, check out the fast ferry to KW.

Not to disappoint any age group :D

I'm thinking the nice folks in Key West are REALLY good at separating folks from their hard-earned dollars. :)

The problem with visiting FL is most folks never see the "Real Florida". A few years back I had a buddy from RI come down. Being a fishing guide I took him into the backcountry to do some fishing. We took some nice snook, reds and a few small tarpon (10-20 pounders). I also did the wildlife tour of manatees, dolphin and exotic birds. The thing that amazed him most was how I was able to navigate by boat through mangrove islands and know where I was going (I don't do electronics, old school use a compass and what brain cells I have left). You will never understand the allure of FL by visiting the likes of Key West, Sanibel, etc. I guess I need to post up some pics but it is such a PITA "small sizing" everything so this site will accept it.

Bugs, yes you do need to post some pics of real Florida. And, next year if I come I will stop by for a tour.
