We’re hosting and our kids/grandkids from California as well as our local kids will be here. A quick trip for the California bunch, arriving late Tuesday and leaving early Friday. There is a direct flight from LAX to Spokane which is nice to use but it arrives in Spokane at 11:00 pm and back to LA at 6:00 am.

I’m heading for Madison after church on Sunday because I have tests at the VA Hospital on Monday. Instead of returning on Tuesday I will be traveling with my 99 year old neighbor who I call mom. We will be staying at her daughters who I call sis and she calls me bro. We will stay through Saturday and others will be there for Thanksgiving. So I’ll be in the city with a large family for a week over the holidays.

I was supposed to work my part-time job, but things there changed, so now I'm off. We are planning to go to my stepson's house with many of our families. I'll be cooking some items and bringing them over. Since they are two doors down, it's not going to be a tough journey. If I walk, it's less than five minutes on the road we made through the neighbor's property. If I drive on the paved road, it's less than 30 seconds. We'll probably drive to bring the food over.
I hope to hunt with some of them that morning.

She Who Must Be Obeyed (SWMBO) and I will travel to western North Carolina and our daughter, her husband and two of our grandkids will meet us there. Looking forward to seeing family. They live in Atlanta and I just don't go there, I can't deal with Atlanta traffic. My small South Carolina town doesn't even have a traffic signal, just a flashing caution light at the largest intersection.
Less than a three hour drive for SWMBO and me, made longer by a yowling cat expressing displeasure at travel.

I saw that Lake Lure was full of construction material and such after Helene caused her mischief.
Anyone know if efforts are underway to rid the lake of that mountain of material? I can't imagine how it can be done and there may be other priorities at this time that are more pressing then Lake Lure.

We try to avoid holiday travel but will be driving this Thanksgiving. One of our friends invited us over, and they live close by, all back country roads, so we'll make that long trip. Geez, almost five miles. Normally, we avoid the roads, period, on holidays.

It's more about the company. They have a teenaged son, about 6'4" tall, 250 pounds. You don't fill your plate quick, you are eatin scraps. Last year we brought dessert. A couple Peach Cobblers and two cans of whipped cream. After dinner we went out on the deck to let the meal settle before dessert. His mother had put coffee on. He and his sister had gone to play video games in the family room. Mom went in to fix dessert about an hour later. ONE cobbler and one can of whipped cream. She asked if he and his sister had had dessert. The sister said "No," and he said to tell Tina thanks for bringing him one.
The boy is HUGE, but can roll an 8' hay bale on the trailer
Plays the defensive line at high school on the football team.
I asked his mom what position. She laughed. "The Line."
Yup, he's a big'un.
The Sister is a small thing, award winning student and DEEP into gardening and the science behind it. The folks built her a green house and the 4H sent her to Nationals and she won a number of awards for her entries. Good Parents, Good Kids.

Heading out to my home town of Hill City with some kids and grandkids in tow. Kind of feel sorry for my shooting partner, still can’t eat, just what is pumped through nose tube. I feel embarrassed eating in her presence, she tells me it doesn’t bother her. She is such a sweetheart.

Sorry to hear she’s still on the feeding tube. Such a trooper tho, sounds like she is more concerned about you than herself.

looks like some folks in the northeast may have tough traveling conditions .... sure hope everyone arrives OK .... it appears the thunderstorms in our area will move out well before noon and be replaced with somewhat windy but clear weather
