69 on its way to 99 which will be our hottest day in the last few weeks .... slight chance of rain Friday night .... Maureen is really looking forward to baby sitting her 8 month niece this afternoon .... she's the youngest relative we have on either side of our family .... baking cookies for relatives who stop by for coffee and smoking a pork loin for us are the only things on today's agenda

well, our no chance of rain until Friday appears to have been badly misstated .... lightening is turning night to day, heavy rumbles of thunder and heavy rain are the order of the moment .... 2 of the heaviest wind gust that I've felt since riding our Hurricane Michael have just shaken our camper ..... as is normal under such conditions we lost satellite TV and I must admit I couldn't help but wonder if our portable dish would be blown over .... happy to report that our TV picture has come back so the dish must have been pretty well tied down

after looking around this morning we were happy to find nothing more than plenty of leaves/small branches down and some outdoor furniture moved from last night's storm .... no clue just how much rain came down but should find that out later today .... we are looking forward to a visit from some of Maureen's nieces this morning .... sometime this afternoon we need to make a supply run to Brookings

in 2 words, hot (96 degrees) ---- windy (47 mph gust) .... in other words, its an inside type of day .... Snickerdoodle cookies baking in the oven, they sure have a good aroma .... 2 weeks from today we are scheduled to be on our 2nd day's drive on our way home .... Monday I hope to get the pressures in all 10 tires checked along with the truck's fluids .... today is the 2nd day of football practice for the local school's football team .... I enjoy watching them .... they have considerable enthusiasm but could sure use a few more big players .... no plans to use our Davy Crockett smoker today but some really nice looking baby back ribs are on hand .. :D

overnight our wind direction underwent a 180 degree change .... its now coming out of the Northeast .... 59 degrees on its way to a much cooler 73 degrees (yesterday it got up to 96) .... a band of rain moved in around 5AM, lightening and thunder followed around 5:15 .... the storm has moved on but the wind is still howling .... according to the forecast strong thunderstorms will be moving through our area in east central South Dakota .... it appears our Davy Crockett smoker will have another day off .. ;)

^^^^^

Sounds like you’re getting the winds we had all week. The weather report showed the front moving eastward. We had 25-35 mph for several days which will probably be higher for you in your location. Batten down the hatches Betty! :D

today's forecast seems to change every few minutes ..... we are down from 6 or so hours of rain to a couple, with one being not much more than drizzle .... the temp has stabilized in the low 70's, while the wind comes and goes .... after today, no rain mentioned in the forecast for several days .... that said, I've learned not to be surprised when its not mentioned and shows up .... do hope to smoke some chicken later this evening

some rain has fallen, it will be interesting to see just how much .... whatever it may be, no more is in the forecast for the next week .... talk about kind of a shock, the projected low for tonight is 47 .... that's a good deal lower than we've had in over a month ... :?

68 on its way to 86 under a beautifully clear blue sky in east central South Dakota .... 9 days from today we are scheduled to head home .... sure hope the long range forecast for the time between now and then holds .... today I plan to smoke/bake a bunch of potatoes in preparation for a "rib feed" Thursday night .... they will be reheated as twice baked potatoes as part of smoking the ribs

its nice to wake up to another beautiful day in east central South Dakota .... its already up to 78 on its way to a forecasted 87 with a gentle 4 mph wind out of the northeast .... our camper has 14 windows .... a little over a year ago we remade curtains for all of them .... taking care of the only one that hasn't stayed in place is my biggest project for today .... hopefully, when we get through it will once again look like the one below .... must admit I can't help but get more than a bit nervous when driving screws into a slide top .. :?

valance shown above has been reinstalled .... one week from today we are scheduled to be up town packing up well over $2,000 worth of South Dakota steaks, after which we should be ready to head home ... one of Maureen's brothers and his wife are coming over this evening .... we hope to smoke 3 racks of baby back ribs today and with showers/thunder storms scattered through today's forecast doing so could get interesting

well, after moving our smoker under the camper's front pin box so as to smoke the ribs, not a drop of rain all day .. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) .. they turned out really well, very happy with the performance of our replacement Davy Crockett smoker/grill .... 67 on its way to 82 with no rain in today's forecast ... on tap for today, cutting a pork loin into chops and smoking them .... some will be frozen and used for quick meals during our coming drive back home
