Marco Island Charter Club
I’ve been here for a few days and am thinking of buying four weeks. This place is fabulous and although it’s one of the oldest it’s also one of the best. All rooms face the gulf and don’t have a side view like most. I would be buying and it would be just like owing a home for four weeks. I’ve spoken with a dozen owners that some have owned for 20-40 years and they all praise it. I would have four fixed weeks in March which is prime. It would also be the worst four weeks back home. Sort of a win-win.
One downside is it’s two weeks then I move for the second two weeks. Others do it and say it’s no big deal.
The other downside is the yearly maintenance. It’s not cheap however it’s a good deal if you can afford it.

Is there a fee to stop if you change your mind? You may not be using it for 40 years.

We've owned a timeshare in Aruba for 10+ years. We have 2 weeks we actually own and we have a friend we rent from for a three week stay. We go every year at the end of March. My wife and I are planning to go back in October we enjoy it so much. We just returned on April 18 and miss it already. We have friends we see there every year at the same time. Some from Mass., Conn., NH. and some from Canada.
Our beach (Eagle Beach) in Aruba is rated in the top 5 in the world. We enjoy the ocean till early afternoon. Then have a light lunch and enjoy the rest of the day by the pool, with friends, discussing where to go for dinner. That's the toughest decision of the day.
All I can say if you really enjoy the resort it's worth every $'s to have the same weeks every year. You won't regret it.

No and I’m buying it from a private party. I can sell it anytime or I could walk away but that would not be smart. The big drawback is the annual maintenance. For me it’s not a big deal.
You sound like the people I talk to here. Many have know each other for decades.Headhog wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2026 4:27 pmWe've owned a timeshare in Aruba for 10+ years. Just like I always asked when buying a used car..."why are you selling". Yes, there are many innocent reasons, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Sorry Gene. Just playing a little Devil's advocate.
Hope it works out favorably if you decide to go for it. It sure sounds great!

The seller is over 90 and is in ill health. I’m looking for a bargain and will make a low offer.markiver54 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2026 5:24 pmJust like I always asked when buying a used car..."why are you selling". Yes, there are many innocent reasons, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Being on the Gulf, how have they faired with hurricanes in the past. Who pays for the damage.

Re: Marco Island Charter Club
They are heavily insured. Owners are only responsible for damage they do. What’s available in good winter months are not the best units. And the best units are only available in the off (summer) season. I’m going to wait until I find the right unit in the winter.
The population of the island doubles in the winter.
