Midway is showing the best price I've seen for their "Combined Technology Factory Second Ballistic Silvertip Hunting Bullets 45-70 Government (458 Diameter) 300 Grain Round Nose Bag of 50" .... they show a "Clearance" of $14.47 ($0.29/Bullet) .... I just ordered 4 boxes and have received an emailed conformation .... while 4 boxes should provide me with more years of hunting bullets than I probably have years left to hunt, I may order a few more boxes .... to be clear, they are factory seconds .... based on my experience with Nosler, that probably means a flaw in the finish but no compromise in performance

a while ago I called and spoke with a Midway rep .... she had no clue why our order hadn't shipped and had to put me on hold to look into it .... she said that they did in fact have them in stock when our order is placed .... she knew was certain because she had taken several orders yesterday .... when got back on the line she said she'd been in contact with their warehouse and they were going to look into it .... a few minutes ago I received an email saying our order has shipped .... also, a $10 coupon for inconvenience that can be used on a future order ... if things go as projected, the order should arrive day after tomorrow (Thursday)

shipment arrived today .... bullets came in plastic bags, 1 was open (contained 24 instead of 26 bullets).. will be calling Midway in the morning
as to why they are seconds :
first picture below the second is on the right ... note the tip
second picture below the second is on the left ... note the cantilever
I couldn't care less about the color of the tip and given a good crimp, I don't believe there will be a problem with the cantilever

called Midway .... they were "experiencing a heavier than anticipated volume of calls" ..... so, it took over 20 minutes of being on hold to get to speak with a rep .... he expressed no reservations at my report of missing bullets .... he said having no more in stock, he would be happy to offer to have me ship them back and he'd refund our purchase price ..... because of the cost of the bullets, I countered by asking if he'd refund half of our purchase price and I'd keep the ones that got here .... he said that would be fine .... I'm satisfied

Maybe you are already aware of these people but here is a link Jim to a place who sells alot of Nosler factory seconds. They have some of the 300 grain bullets there but the price isnt what Midway had them for. Al

link appreciated, I have never heard of it .... have bookmarked it .... their price of $25.20 for seconds isn't bad at all .... first line 300's run about $40 for a box of 50 .... after I lock down a hunting load for them, I shouldn't go through very many because I plan to begin firing (mostly) lead paper bunching bullets

today, for the first time since I had a knee replaced two weeks ago, I got the urge to reload some ammo .... granted, I only put together 20 rounds, at least that's a start .... per Nosler's max load specs, the loads consisted of 300 gr Nosler Ballistic Silvertips (the seconds shown in this thread) pushed by 51.5 gr IMR4198, ignited by CCI Large Rifle Primers .... I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back out to where I can send them down range .... while still very much in the load development stage, I'll be somewhat surprised if this combination becomes our 300 g hunting load

I know they are not Henrys and not lever guns either but..... if you are considering building a varmint gun these are a great deal to start the build with.
