I’m thinking of buying this AC tractor for lawn art. I think it would look great parked down by the road. Originally I was thinking an old short school bus from the 40’s or 50’s because I live on Ring School Rd.

That little Allis B was a very popular small farm tractor in its day and there are still people who run them. Check out some antique tractor shows if you ever get a chance. If that one is still running, you might find it to be more useful than lawn art.

Hey All,

I agree with the idea of restoring and using that AC tractor for chores around your place. Lawn ornament tractors are usually lesser tractors like John Deere .

That's a beautiful piece of tractor history. It' looks like it's in good condition. To me, it looks to good to be lawn art and have the elements turn it into a rusted mess.

The tractor has been parked for five years and won’t start. Chances are the gas turned to varnish. It could be fixed. I don’t really need another working tractor and still think it would display nice. Concerns of it turning to rust be be taken into consideration meaning I will clear coat it and otherwise protect it. Keep in mind this isn’t a 1963 split window Corvette or a 1966 350 Shelby Mustang. Fully restored these tractors are only worth $2K to $5K.

I'd heard that too. Also they've put that stupid easy change oil filter on some of their home riding mowers. Sounds like a real good idea to me, $45 for a filter and a quart of oil, leave a quart of dirty oil in the engine. I'm sure they will be replacing a lot of engines (or complete tractors) a lot sooner than necessary.

That Allis is a nice looking tractor. If you don't plan on using it, ask the owner to take the large hydraulic hoses / unit off. You will have a nice example of a vintage tractor.

Yep, my thoughts too. These old tractors are tough and surprisingly parts are plentiful.

I’ve talked to the seller about it. Another person will trailer it here along with a picnic table. Instead of paying to have it moved I’ve offered to give him the hydraulics. The seller also has the half-tracks and belly mower.

It seems it needs a new carburetor and they are almost impossible to find. I’m told it was made in 1949 the year I was born.

I finished leveling the spot. It took me awhile as I’m not the best tractor operator in the world. I parked my Brandon there for a photo shoot.

And a view from further up the road. Someone else wants to buy the Allis however they don’t have the money. The seller has given them 30 days because they bought a lot of other equipment.

I live on a gravel road but only have to drive 500 yards on it coming from town. Most of the roads here are paved.

Finished product was okay but glad I wasn’t paying me hourly. Same thing in my driveway where I’m making a turnaround. Yes I’m getting it done but putting too many hours on the tractor.

My Dad had one of those...........18 HP drawbar rating......I rode it many miles in the field.
