Stuff Henry ought to be making.
Re: Stuff Henry ought to be making.
I have a Savage 99-358 that my late friend bought for me new in the early eighties while they were still making them. I helped him move from Waycross Ga. to Lakeland Fl. which I would have done a hundred times because he was a good friend and the person that got me into guns , shooting and reloading. He said "I want to buy you a good hunting rifle what do you want". I had a Winchester 71 348 so I said "Savage 99 in .358". And that's how I got the rifle that I still have and will most likely be with me until my last breath. By the way .357 jacketed pistol bullets make dandy pest loads in the .358.

I’ll take a .22WMR over .410.

Re: Stuff Henry ought to be making.
An upgraded U.S. Survival Rifle AR-7 with a picatinny rail, fibre optic from sight, graduated lines on the rear sight with a line on the receiver so zero can be achieved by re-aligning the graduations when changing from the small to large peep sight and a modified receiver that allows the bolt handle to be pulled out slightly when the bolt is open so it acts as a bolt hold open but prevents the bolt handle from being fully removed in this position.
Also add how to bore sight the rifle using the rear sight screw to the owners manual to share the knowledge.

I get what your saying, but since it is an Evil Roy “signature model”, they sure aren’t going to remove his signature from it.Ozarkwoodswalker wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 7:00 pmAn evil roy 22lr with out that beautiful walnut stock gobbed up with the words "evil roy".....

Re: Stuff Henry ought to be making.
I’d be in for an O/U combo gun. But it needs to be good looking like a nice Italian O/U shotgun or Ruger No. 1. The Henry single shots are butt ugly. My choice would be .30-30 over 20 or .410. It’s not like you’re going to be using it for long range shooting. Putting a scope on would take away its shotgun practicality, so a 200 yard cartridge would be adequate.

The model 39 marlin Mountie has the name in small words alongside the marlin name and caliber designation up on the barrel.... they could do the same with the "evil roy" and not ruin the stock...( well, ok, "ruin the stock" is an objective opinion.. obviously lots of people don't see it that way and like it.... thats whats makes the world go around I suppose....

Yes just like the side gates and Henry in the stock.Ozarkwoodswalker wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 10:53 amThe model 39 marlin Mountie has the name in small words alongside the marlin name and caliber designation up on the barrel.... they could do the same with the "evil roy" and not ruin the stock...( well, ok, "ruin the stock" is an objective opinion.. obviously lots of people don't see it that way and like it.... thats whats makes the world go around I suppose....![]()
To me it would be a much nicer lookin firearm without all that.
Now if they would make the side gate CCH in rifle calibers, and no gaudy writing on the stock.
I'd probably have to have one in 38-55.

Re: Stuff Henry ought to be making.
I would like to see a 357 Big Boy steel in stainless steel, side loading gate. I would also like to see a production schedule of ETA of cataloged items. I know they won't show their hand but I had to wait 10 months for my last purchase. I also would like the schedule from Ruger , I want a SA convertible in 357/9mms so I can start saving my pennies.
