Re: Is the Henry Single Shot accurate ?
308 single shot surprisingly accurate!
Just put a sig buckmaster scope on new Henry 308 Winchester single shot and started to sight in at 50 yds. I had some 168 grain fmjbt match bullets I loaded with varget, took 6 shots. My windage was good but I didn't make any scope changes to elevation till I shoot my 150 grain bullets later on. But I'm off to good start. I was shooting way low as I did the initial sighting in with a 308 laser bullet in backyard. Henry makes a nice rifle.

Re: Is the Henry Single Shot accurate ?
I just shot a three-shot, one-hole cloverleaf with peep sights at 50 yards using a Speer 400-grain SPFN and 46.0 grains of IMR 4198 at 1919 f/s. Another load uses the Hornady 250 MonoFlex bullet with 53.5 grains of Vihtavuori N120. That goes out at 2533 f/s and shot under 2" at 100 yards with a scope. So, YES, the 45-70 Single Shot is accurate with the right bullet/powder combination.
Re: Is the Henry Single Shot accurate ?
I have a Henry Single Shot in .30-30 Win. with a Leupold VX Freedom 2-7X33 rifle scope and I find it plenty accurate. I zero'd it at 100 yards and with handloads (Winchester brass, Win. LR primer, Win. 748 power and my old stash of Winchester 150 gr. Silvertip bullets), it is accurate beyond my humble marksmanship abilities.
Something about a single shot rifle appeals to me, especially when it is accurate.
