A beautiful Henry - .410 lever action

I was recently at my favorite gun shop, Woods & Waters, in Saranac Lake. I stopped in on my way for a work week at camp. I needed fishing worms, so that was my excuse.
The owner and his son know my tastes and wish list. I saw a very nice condition 4" Ruger Security-Six, but I didn't need any more handguns. I was shown a lever action .410 that I was unfamiliar with. To say it was ugly was to say it just wasn't my style. We have a Henry .410. That's all I needed to hear. The most beautiful Henry I've ever seen in person came out of the box in front of me. I knew that I "needed" it as soon as I saw it. The checkering and Henry name on the wood is unbelievable. The barrel is 19.8" cylinder bore. They knew I was going to keep it as soon as I saw it. It's side gate just finished off a wonderful creation.

I can't say enough how beautiful it is. I would have been happy with the blued and walnut of either length barrel, but this one is what came to them and now to me. It will be a nice hunting gun for the farm as the woods are thick and I don't have a lot of open spaces. It should be a nice companion to my Henry garden gun too. It will be able to deal with larger pests at a bit longer distance. Win, win.

I was able to take the shotgun out today and pattern it. Hopefully the shot pattern is visible in the photographs. The cardboard I shot at was just over 3 feet by 3 feet. I used my range finder for the distance measurements. The ammunition was some Remington .410 sporting clays #8s I got for free from someone. They were the first box of 2 and 1/2" shells I came across.

The 10 yd is a bit off due to me not taking my time. The 25 yd target was dead center sighting. It filled the cubic yard in case you can't see it. So 25 yds seems to be the MAX for me. No problem. There was even shot dispersal across that square.

beautiful indeed .... I've never owned or even wanted a 410 but getting my hands on one like yours could easily result in a 180 degree pivot .. :!: .. does it have choke tubes ..?.. be sure to add it to our How Many ? thread

Plus 1 on the other comments. That certainly one beautiful and well finished Henry. The checkering and engraving on the stock, is the icing on the cake. Best of luck with it.

Nice grab Dave, what is the choke on those things?
I saw one of the blued ones a month or so back.
Heck I have 3 410's now.
The shells are hard to find locally, hopefully
with Fall coming on they will start appearing.

A beautiful 410 shooter Dave and great job on grabbing it quick! Don't think it would have been sittin in the shop for long.

I love that foregrip with the Henry engraving! Wonder if those are available separate to fit other carbines?

OK everybody…..lets start a bidding war for Dave’s recent purchase.
I will start with an opening bid of $1,200.

Dave ought to get a kick out of this!😎

I'd rather have the blued one I saw recently, besides
I despise those stocks.
If I had it I'd send them to forty I buy a set of plain stocks. :o
You know what they say about opinions, right??
