While out today with the wife,stopped at a new gun store to pick up a box of 41 ammo and also added this Caldwell Matrix.

Caldwell makes solid rest .... I have two others (made for different purposes) and may well pickup one of their Matrix shooting rest

Nice rifle! The gun rest is nice also.

That's a good looking rest - I like the ratchet arrangement on the front. Great looking rifle, too!

Nice piece of kit and won't break the bank. Rests are appearing more at my club.
Lotsa choices for various wallet sizes. The "Matrix" seems popular. I gotta wonder
why Santa didn't bring me one ----- oh well, another year on blocks and sandbags.

Hi CentFlHenry41.
Just wondering how you are liking this rifle rest? I don't have a rest now, but want to get a one for the occasional sighting in of a rifle or handgun. So I'm doing a little research, shopping and looking for recommendations. This one is in my price range.

within the last week I've been able to spend several hours using our Caldwell Matrix .... it has been used with a portable shooting table while firing a couple of different 22's, a Henry 357 Mag and a 44 Mag, and a 44 Mag Ruger Redhawk revolver .... we have two other shooting supports .... 1 heavy, highly adjustable, high dollar metal one and another plastic one .... the Matrix is designed to where the front rest can be disconnected from the rear rest .... we took ours apart because it didn't seem to fit comfortably on our portable shooting table .... for our Redhawk, with 3 rest to pick from, I really like the Matrix .... for me, it really worked well .... for a front rest for a rifle, it also performed well ... we are happy with our purchase

Thanks JEBar, good to know. I purchased a Matrix a couple weeks ago but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Looking forward to it.

That is a great portable rest.
If you want to stabilize it even more you can use sandbags on the legs for weight.
I ended up buying a Rock rest and I keep the vanguard in my range bag for a spare.

I have a pair of velcro'd ankle weights I thought I give a try with it too for firmer stability. The rest height adjusts roughly 8 to 12 inches. Thinking I'd wrap the ankle weights around the shaft allowing them to drape the tripod legs. Just an idea at this point. My best at home shooting bench is a tree stump a little higher than belly height. Stooping over to shoot off hand from the stump top kinda does in the back a bit. Hopefully this will give enough additional height that I won't have to stoop over so much.

Pretty fancy rig there! I got me a set of sock bags filled with poly pellets from Hobby Lobby. The work but nothing as nice as that.
