My girl's first time at the range

Took the wife to the range yesterday for her first shoot. She started off with a Henry AR-7. She loaded all her own clips and really liked how light it was. (we had a few jam ups with the AR-7 but I've read that is a bit normal) She then moved on to the Henry X Model 357. Handled that just fine. Had her do all the loading with tube and side loading. I must say I was impressed with her first time out. She is looking forward to her new Henry. I bought her a .22 Henry H001 back on July 6th that still hasn't arrived yet. (That's a whole other story) All in all it was a really good day.

Great having the wife involved in something you like to do. Hope she continues to take an interest in shooting.

Cudos to you both, her for trying the sport and you for choosing firearms she could shoot that would be fun for her without being punishing.

Too often we see posts on shooting forums where folks have taken new shooters to the range and handed them firearms with large calibers and short barrels, then stood back, winked at their other friends, and waited for the show. That is NOT the way to bring new shooters into the fold. ;)

My wife loves my 357 carbine, and shoots it well. She was surprised at how well the weight dampened the recoil of that cartridge. Good for you guys, a hobby you can share.
:D

As above, thank-you for starting your gal out the right way and my welcome to her into the great world of shooting sports.

Your wife looks like she can handle the rifles well and get the rounds on target! She might just like that .357 X model too!

I remember first time I took my wife to the range while I was trying out my new Ruger New Vaquero .45 Colt and I brought along my old S&W .38 Special snubbie for her to shoot. She ended up liking my .45 Ruger the best!

Good for you and even better for her!

Yesterday i was in the back yard sighting in a new Airsoft carbine I bought the day before and my wife came out and pretty much took it away from me. She did great and had a bunch of fun. She’s not new to shooting, she has a 20ga semi and a 22lr bolt but I appreciated her enthusiasm wanting to give the Airsoft a run.

Nicely done. Maybe sleep with one eye open from now on.

I too took along my Ruger New Vaquero .45 along with .22 and a .17 when I took my wife to the range. She shot the rifles a few times but spent the rest of the time shooting the .45. When she goes with me now she just wants to shoot the Vaqueros.
