Range Report: Beeman P1

Post by Sir Henry » Tue Jul 28, 2020 12:29 pm

Early shooting this morning while the target isn’t in shadows. I’ve had this pistol for more than 30 years and bought it to shoot in the backyard. It’s a Beeman P1 with a Beeman Blue Ribbon Model 25 2x20 scope.

The bench is at 21 yards and I walked forward to in front of the shadows to an estimated 10 yards.

The first shot was the best and it was premature. I wasn’t expecting it to go off. The trigger is less than 2 pounds. Maybe closer to 1.

That is a beauty, I have looked at the P1 and still haven’t decided to dig into the checkbook to add one to the stable. I have the Daisy I bought from TGR and it is a great shooter. Thanks for sharing your morning range report with us. I need to set up a backyard mini range.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday. ;)

I have the HW version (HW makes it for Beeman). The P1/HW45 is legendary for its quality and trigger (truly match grade), but it's equally legendary for being one of the hardest air pistols to shoot accurately because of that spring piston recoil. Not an easy gun to shoot if you are shooting for score. It's doable, though, if you put the time in. Nice going, Gene.

If anyone wants a version that is the same in terms of size, looks, feel and trigger, but is much easier to shoot, try the HW75. It's single stroke pneumatic with no recoil, but also with less power.

Good luck finding either one of these air pistols right now. Thanks to the pandemic, there's been a run on air guns and pellets as well as production slow downs, just as there has on regular guns and ammo.
