The KYL spinner target needs repaired

Post by bandit1250 » Fri Feb 28, 2020 7:15 pm

My friend and I went shooting Monday. Nice weather for this time of year. Shot paper targets for a while the set up the KYL spinner. We shot it for a time then he stopped to puff on that thing that smokes like an Indian sending smoke signals. He told me to go ahead and shoot while he was taking a break. I started in the middle of the spinners instead of the big easy to hit ones. When I got down to the 1/4" I hit it and it spun like crazy. He said to shoot at it until I missed. I had my Grand Finale 452 and it's preferred ammo that it really likes. I hit it 12 times straight counting the first time when he said to keep shooting the 1/4" one. Then when I went to try for number 13 I didn't see the spinner. I told him I didn't see it and he laughed and said it was stuck up in the air which it occasionally does. It wasn't stuck up or I could have seen it at 50 yds. with a Leupold 4-12 set on 10X. I told him maybe it was caught on something in between the washers it spins between and was sitting level straight behind the bar. So we walked up and there it was on the ground broken off. That poor thing has been shot so many times there is not much left to the aiming point and now the spinner arm is broke. Time to do some welding or maybe make a complete new arm and start over. Got to get this fixed as we got ammo to burn. Here is the broken arm.

Getting pretty beat up on this side so I had to turn it around a couple weeks ago.

This is the new side I turned around and it's second trip to the range.
