Spring change...

OK - first and foremost - a GREAT BIG thank you Esquared. Before the holidays Mr. Squared took pity on a new board member and sent a 38 pound spring to me. It was for my new (and only) Henry - a single shot .243. I waited until after the hunting season to perform the spring swap. The operation was a success and the patient survived the procedure.

Then came the holidays, cold weather, auto repairs - you know - the standard life stuff that can keep a person away from the range. Then this morning my son texted me and said “Let’s get in some trigger time.” The boss knew we were both itching so it was a go.

So - #38 pound outer spring, left the inner spring in. I also have the hammer extension on the hammer. To test - three different rounds, and two different lots of one ammo. Federal Fusion (two different lots), Federal Berger Hybrid Hunters and Hornady Superformance. Minimum 5 rounds per. Not a single fail to fire. Each primer strike looked like the one before and the one after. The trigger pull is now much more manageable and has a consistent break point.

I’d like to brag on my groups today but it was nothing to brag about. The rifle is way better than I was shooting. I will however brag on my son. A text out of the blue on a “warmer”, still day and we’re behind the scopes. He’s a good boy. And again, a huge thanks to ESquared for his part in making an excellent rifle even better.
