At the range this morning. Bright sunshine and no wind. That sun sure reflects off the brass! Made it challenging to aim. So I shot American Eagle JSP. Not good. Conditions same as last time but the only difference was ammo. June 4th was Winchester and shot good. Today was terrible. Same sight setting. 50 yds off hand.
Then I took 5 rounds of Winchester I had with me and shot 100 yds off hand. 4 on paper and a bullseye. Go figure. Think I'll just shoot Winchester from now on.

Well, those shots at 100 yards should keep you coming back!

From 100 yards, standing freehand with iron sights, I would be lucky to hit a 2x3 foot piece of brightly colored poster board.

I suggest that you mount the 2x3 bright board, and give it a try with your Henry.

Top notch on the rear sight again this morning. Then center that little piece of paper in the distance best I can and "let 'er buck!"
But the 50 yd this morning was shockingly off the mark.

True, that was not close to some of your previous shooting. Amazing sometimes the difference a change in ammo makes.

Right now the surprise might be that I wouldn't even hit the board given how long it has been since I pulled the trigger on a loaded firearm.

The club I belong to does have the six new pistol bays open, but the rifle range is not quite finished yet. Of course, they opened the pistol bays last Saturday and I have a full load at work this week and then will have our grandson the next week as our daughter and son-in-law are taking a much needed vacation.

When they get back LOOK OUT! because I am going to hit that range every evening on the way home from work!

I hope to shoot again this week, myself. It's been way too long and too far in between. I went to the range this past Friday. A sign on the door said it was closed for renovations. It's a 1/2 hour drive to get there. My wife suggested I should check their website next time, but I looked and there wasn't any notice posted. Sigh. If all goes well, it's supposed to reopen on Wednesday. So, I plan to try again on Thursday (if the creek don't rise or the sky doesn't fall before I get there).

Get the Absorbine out for that shoulder, if you're anything like me you'll have to put a few hundred rounds through to make up for lost time...

Yes the JSP's just don't cut it for me. Too bad cuz they are $15/box cheaper than the Winchester...

Well, I guess you will just have to start reloading and cut that cost down considerably.

Actually, I am fairly certain that is not the case as I probably have more money in my reloading stuff than I would ever spend on the ammo. The advantage is, if you have the components to reload, you will still have ammo and be able to shoot when there are shortages and or price spikes in ammo. Plus, you can work up custom loads that work best for you and your rifle. And, lastly, I just find it fun and relaxing, especially when the weather is too bad to shoot. I can just crank out ammo to be used when the weather improves!
