H 012M41 & 265 WLN GC

Post by Vaquero » Sat Sep 21, 2019 8:02 pm

A few days ago Ridgerunner mentioned some Underwood Ammo, I hadn't heard of them before.
So I ordered a box and this morning I went out behind the barn and tried a few.
I also loaded up a few of my 270 gr powder coated WFN pills, over 17.5 hrs of H 110 to try while I was ar it.

Shot 4 rds of each at 50 yds.
3 each at 75 yds. looks like one missed completely.
Then just 3 of the 265's at 100 yds.
I'm going to say operator error on that one.
I'll try them again soon.

Thanks for checking those out Randy. I probably would never go that big for my use in the 41 but Im sure there are others who have an interest. If I need a bigger bullet theres a 45-70 in the safe. 2 of them as a matter of fact.

Al I don't really have a need for it, and especially around here.
Only Big game, are the whitetail and they run 100 to maybe 200 average.
Just something I like to play with, I have a pair of 444's that shoot some 320+ cast pretty well.

Heavy lead has its place in the deer and black bear woods.

I like the heavy lead in a short quick handling rifle for those nights when we (wife, son, and me) are sitting on the river bank catfishing, camping, and cooking out... I've been around black bears my whole life, I know they generally never attack unprovoked... but why take the chance with my family?

Looks like those UW 265's are showing some promise!

Yes they are, I had to move out on the farm to get a hundred range.
Weren't quite the setup that I used earlier.
I think I should be able to get some better results.
