This morning: shot some JSP's and LFN. Both 255 gr.
Southern Alberta is very picturesque, but the wind blows about 90% of the time. This weekend is a good example, now that the rain has moved out, the wind comes across the Rockies and down the eastern slope like a freight train. Today is a steady 50mph and it makes for interesting shooting. The 2 targets below are numbered. As you can see there was a few wild ones. All are off hand standing at 50 yds. After awhile I adjusted my sights to shoot lower and it got a little better. #1 was not good at all until I adjusted sights and then started improving. The circled ones are after adjustment. #2 is ok, at least I'm in the big circle!

Sometimes those "freight trains" dip southward and travel through MO! Always a challenge to shoot in high winds.

That said, both of your targets (from my viewpoint) are quite acceptable -- very good shooting! Off hand at 50 yards, in the 50-mph wake of a freight train, iron sights, and almost all POIs within 12 inches! I'd let the wind howl, and move on with a sigh of contentment.

And in case anyone doesn't notice, target #1 has one bullseye, target #2 has three bullseyes!

P.S. Have you planned when you'll post your Range Report shooting off hand from horseback?
Or did I miss it?

Horseback?...I'll have lots of time to post from my hospital bed!!! Plus I'll be down a horse cuz he died laughing.
Think I'll stick to the dismount, aim, fire method. Rooster Cogburn I ain't!

Thanks for the comments. Today was certainly real world conditions, at least for this part of the world. Challenging but tons of fun. Can't wait to post some revolver reports some day soon too!

Your shooting is enviable, RanchRoper and it is a pleasure to read your range reports and to note your steady progress in that real world, fifty mile per hour wind, shooting environment. Thanks for the great report.

I would love to know the subtle differences in my stance, breathing, etc impact on the ones that were way off versus the ones that were closer to center. Obviously I'm trying to hit dead center like everybody does, and I THINK I'm dialed in and ready when I pull the trigger. Yet there is a big variance and it's not all due to the wind. Still, it's better than how I golf.
