Range day. Time to enjoy my Colt Richards SA Conversion revolver and my 1860 Henry rifle, both in 45 Colt. Open sights. 35F today with not much wind. Ammunition is Winchester 250 gr LFN.

First up, 12 rounds at 50 yds, off hand standing with rifle, all on the 4" bullseye, pretty happy with that one: Next up, 100 yds with rifle, shooting from 1 knee position, 24 rounds on the 12" circle, and several in the 4" circle too. This is with the ladder sight up and on the bottom setting. I am starting to figure it out. When I first started playing with it I was all over the place. It does not take much to get your lead flying over the top of the target board. And last, my remaining rounds at 15 yds with my revolver, shooting 1 handed. All top-notch targets, RR. I can see why you're "pretty happy with that one" (first target) using your rifle. It's a keeper. Your 5-point round-the-horn shooting at the Score Keeper target looks great, too. Always enjoy the six-target sheet I hang up when I'm at an indoor range. Lots of fun moving that revolver around like that.

Looks good my friend I wish I could shoot that good off hand at 50 yards. Great targets.

Looking at the stack of shot targets in my shed it is pretty obvious I spend most of my time shooting 50 yds. Probably a couple thousand rounds by now with this rifle, so I sure hope I'm improving!!

Thanks, RR. I always look forward to your range reports, even though I know exactly what guns you'll be shooting. Just a reminder of what can be done with a great shooter behind those sights. And, of course, love the way you always finish with some artistic work. You really are a cowboy at heart.

I find my rifle very well balanced and I am really trying to relax and surprise myself with the shot each time. When I don't, I consistently pull left. Many targets I have posted in the past favor the left side of the circle. I am learning to be patient with each shot and I think it helps. But, can't overthink it either. It really is a mental game.

Great shooting as always RR. You know everybody likes light guns, especially out in the field, but maybe there's something to be said for those heavy guns with the long barrels. It seems like you can predict exactly when that sight is on the target.

It's about 10 lbs or so fully loaded with 13 rounds. Very little recoil which helps I am sure. I like the rear notch sight and front blade. Easy to work with for me.
