What a perfect day. Riding the range all morning (see cow country thread) and shooting at the range this afternoon. I have not been happy with a few of my last targets. Mind you, the wind is always a combatant out here but that's just the way it is, and the old frontier cowpunchers had to contend with it too. Today however was just a gentle breeze out of the west, so it's as close to ideal conditions as I can likely get. I was starting to get a little concerned that my rifle was not shooting true, maybe lead build up although I clean regularly. But today I silenced my concerns. It felt great and I was pretty dialed in. I did not have to correct much for windage and the bullets hit where I put them looking down the open sights. This is what I like: A target, my rifle and me. Not much else to worry about, so what you see is all me and no excuses.

Rifle is my 1860 Henry 45 Colt, ammo is remanufactured Wolf 250 gr LFN. 50 rounds on 2 targets; 12" target with a 4" bullseye.

100 yards, shooting from 1 knee, the rest of the rounds, finally starting to figure out my ladder sight, this is on the 1st notch, of course I use little binoculars to see what going on way out there after each couple of shots, but overall I am ok with this target for an old geezer at 100 yds with an old style lever gun...
