Had to shoot my way out of a couple of scrapes today, lucky I had my trusty 1860 Henry in 45 Colt. Unfortunately now there is a price on my head....guess I'll stay up in the badlands of southwest Alberta until the posse gets tired and heads back to town.
All 50 yd work today. 250 gr Wolf (made in Canada) ammo LFN. Nice ammo, shoots real well. It was pretty windy, about 30 mph but I shoot so much in the wind I am starting to figure it out I think. 50 rounds on 3 targets, off hand standing. Open sights, I believe the sights on this rifle are quite accurate. I tend to pull left sometimes, working on it. It's a tough read in the wind. I guess there are at least a couple thousand rounds through my Henry now, and never an issue. Darn good rifle.

Since when is it a crime to shoot paper, herd cattle, and care for your wife and horses? If I saw you on the trail, I'd let you ride on and point
the posse south. Thanks for the range report, Cowboy.

Dead targets for sure. Well maybe with that slight pull to the left the targets are instead of dead in critical condition. Hope the paper posse gives up real quick. Winter is coming on and I bet it gets cold in the Alberta badlands.

The action on my rifle is so smooth. It truly is a joy to shoot. I rode in the forestry yesterday and it packs really well in my scabbard. Very snug. I experimented for awhile on which side to carry on, but it rides best on the off-side (right) and has been that way for over a year now.

As always excellent shooting RR. A steady hand and knowing your rifle for that kind of performance for sure. Glad to report the sight problem on my .45-70 is now rectified and we run quite a few rounds through her the last couple days. Hit a three pound coffee can pretty consistently at 100 yards after got her dialed in. Just started fall calving and have several first calf heifers to calve out so been nurse maiding and pulling watches me and the wife several times during the night so I ain't been posting much. That posse might turn and run for home if they've got good sense.

Thanks, good luck with calving. Glad to hear the 45-70 is tuned up, a tin can at 100 yds is good shooting for sure.

Someday in history, these "wild west adventures" may be recorded as a tale akin to this.

Greene sang
"...Every once in a while in one of them, there may have lived a man...there was still a spark of good..."
