It was time to do some old time frontier shootin' today. My 1860 Henry in 45 Colt. Open sights, 50 yards. Ammunition was 50 rounds of Fiocchi 250 gr LFN. Nice ammo for sure and my Henry seems to like it. No wind today to speak of, and 75F. Had the range to myself again!

First target is 50 yds, off hand standing, and one of my better efforts I think; 36 rounds in the black 5 1/2" circles, most in the 3" bullseye. I enjoy the challenge of cycling through the targets one after another. Makes me not overthink and just SHOOT. Next up I tried to dial in closer, so dropped to 1 knee buffalo hunter style: 14 rounds except 1 on or in the 3" circle... And my excellent rifle & ammo: Just a very simple report today, hope you enjoyed it.

Yup, RR, enjoyed it a lot! Great target POIs. Especially like your "cycling targets" routine.
At the Frontier Justice range I use, I shoot the same six-target config as in your first photo. You're definitely right. You don't really think a lot about it; rather, you just shoot! Your targets look excellent.

BTW, since rapid fire is permitted at the FJ range, I've also run my Mark IV pistol through this cycle target routine, too....but shooting rapid fire. A real blast to shoot this way.

I look forward to someday taking out a bull as completely as you do. Maybe that will happen with one of my .45LC revolvers! Probably a little more likely will happen first with my Henry .357 Carbine since I've shot it more. Whatever -- they all are fun.

Great shooting Range Roper! I was out the same day you were breaking in a new rifle barrel and with almost the same shooting conditions you described. Life is good.

Meant to also mention the Fiocchi ammo. Have been shooting it some for a number of years. High quality and very consistent performance in my experience. Used to own a feed and farm supply store where we sold a little hardware and ammo too. Sold a lot of the Fiocchi. They have a factory in Ozark , MO which is about an hour and half from me.

The lead must have a coating on it or something; it is very much darker than some others.

Great shooting, no really great shooting and I like the b&w photography.
