Finally got our home-grown range rebuilt so we sighted in the new Single-shot 44. Pictures tell the story.

The sights were pretty close right out of the box - only took 1 1/2 turns on the rear windage to dial it in at 25 yds. I am sure someone with better eyes could tighten up this group with this rifle using the iron sights - but I was happy with the results. We like to shoot our 44's at steel plates at 25yds and this rifle can ring em every time if we do our part. I usually have trouble with buckhorn iron sights, but for some reason I can shoot this rifle as is. I am still hoping that Skinner can come up with a good rear peep for these single shots - a Skinner rear and Lyman Globe on the front would make this the perfect 44Mag single-shot.

First impressions:
- The recoil pad on this gun is excellent. This is the most comfortable shooting 44Mag in our stable. Recoil just isn't a factor on this gun - we shot factory Federal 240g JHP that usually gives a good kick and it felt like 44 Special in this rifle.
- The hammer is still hard to cock, but it got significantly better after about 15 rounds. We'll put a hammer extension on it to make it easier to cock and it probably won't be an issue in the future.
- The trigger seemed a little stiff, (probably 5-6 Lbs pull), but it does break clean - we'll see if it lightens up a little bit with use.
- Overall this gun is a real joy to shoot - very comfortable for a 44Mag - could shoot this thing all day - this will be a crowd favorite when the water jugs and pumpkins come out...

I really like my 44 to. I can't shoot the iron sights to save my butt so I'm putting a scope on mine.

nicely done .... I'm looking forward to your continued reports .... our BBS 44 Mag is one of my favorites .... for our current trip we packed 1,274 rounds ... unfortunately the range in Missouri where we planned to shoot on 4 different days is closed .... next week I hope to find somewhere send a some rounds down range ....

it certainly is .. ;) .. my hope was during this trip to be a able to spend about 16 hours over 4 days at Jay Henges rifle/pistol range .... using both our Henry 44 and Ruger Redhawk, firing a hundred rounds in an hour really doesn't take a great deal of effort .... when we left home, I honestly anticipated running out so I have the makings on hand back there to reload all of the brass .... if I end up hauling all most (if not all) of the 1,274 back home, guess I'll have to order more brass .. :?

Nice range report. Glad you like that 44 and its good to see some single shot rifle range reports. I know there is other single shot rifle owners here but there isn’t many single shot rifle range reports. Al
