Mondays, my pal and I spend a day at the range, today we brought his son along as a guest.
He has been shooting an air rifle for about a year so he had a fundamental foundation on
safety, handling, and aiming. At 25 yds., he was breaking clay pigeons with the golden boy,
pretty darn good I thought. H001 would be a better choice with the higher comb and less
weight as he had some difficulty shooting standing. Maybe his pop will gift him one.
Best shot of the day was when he used my CZ452 American w/4 power and nailed a quarter
at 25 yds. All in all a great day for everyone.

The future of the shooting sports and the 2nd Amendment depends on bringing young people to the range and introducing them to the proper and safe use of firearms. I could mention this also means teaching young folks about the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment as our Founding Fathers envisioned it, but that would involve discussing politics. That said, sounds like the 3 of you had a great time. Wish more fathers would bring their kids along to the range. Most don't want to be bothered anymore. Sad.

I would expect a 10 year old would find the GB a load to handle, sounds like he is quite a trooper.

Sounds like his dad is getting him something more appropriate.............

Without folks being prepared to bring their youngsters to the range, the shooting industry is doomed. Simple as.

The lad was a trooper on so many levels, we spent 6 hrs. at the range with temps in the 40'sF,
beginning at 10 am his father and myself shot trap for an hour after which a tour around the club
and I explained range rules and etiquette till about noon. Rest of the day was rimfire shooting at 25 yds.
No whining or complaining of any sort from the rookie, he captured the day on his Go-Pro action camera, and
saved the spent shell casing from his first shot. I'm sure we'll invite him again, on his next Monday School Holiday.

I agree with the H001 idea. I believe that is what I am going to go with for my 10 year old. The young man will probably have fond memories of the day for a long while.

Way to go dad. Days like that are precious. Keep it up.
