45/70 Range Trip

Post by BigBlue » Fri Dec 01, 2017 4:37 pm

I had ended up mounting a Nikon Monarch 3 in 2-8 x 33 scope using lightweight Talley mounts. I tried 3 different brands of ammo and two handloads and this rifle had the worst accuracy of any gun I've ever fired. Then I found the mounts had come loose so I packed it up. When I got home I took it apart, cleaned the threads on the scope mount screws and applied some Locktite. Put it back together and bore sighted it again. Hopefully I'll have better results next time.

Been there, many times. You did exactly right to check the scope, mounts and other issues before passing judgement o the gun. That is an awesome scope, by the way. Keep us posted.

Also been there done that. Really frustrates what should be a good learning experience in figuring out a gun.
