Had the range all to myself today. 34F and windy. Wind speed only about 30 mph but it was cold. Time to try out some new ammo. Sellier & Bellot 250 gr LFN, 45 Colt. Shooting my Cimarron Henry 1860 rifle. I usually shoot Winchester 250 gr LFN but the S&B is about 15 cents a round cheaper. It shoots pretty good too. Put 50 rounds through the Henry, and it cycled very smooth. These are not my best targets, but I don't think the ammo was a factor. Darn wind is a pain in the butt some days.
First up; 24 rounds on the 50 yard range, 8" target. Again, I've shot better. Off hand standing open sights. Next is the 100 yard target, 8", off hand but I have to drop to 1 knee for this distance. Ladder sight up, bottom setting. 19 out of 26 rounds on the paper. Man that's a long shot with 60 year old eyes... The range today....arctic ambience And of course my rifle

I know how small those targets are at 100 yrds and with the cold and blowing wind over buckhorn sights. Impressive shooting.

Thank you for the kind words. I am so pleased with my rifle and its' accuracy. It's great fun to use the old style ladder sights, it takes me back in time. I was pretty happy with the S&B ammunition too, all rounds cycled flawlessly.

good to hear of the positive performance of your ammo .... realizing how familiar you are with Winchester 250 gr LFN, how would you contrast the two .... do you foresee any need to adjust your rifles sights ?

Good question. As I don't reload, I wonder what could be the performance difference. The S&B shot well. I guess I should shoot them back to back same day to really judge. Winchester, Black Hills and now S&B all feed well. They all hit with authority. I'd buy them again.
