It's been a while for Henry...

I took Henry out after work today. I haven't shot the little .22 since I got the Winchester 94 30-30 (which I have nicknamed Emma, after my wife's LARP persona- it just seemed appropriate :) ). I put some Federal AutoMatch through it, starting out with the fore on the bench and butt on a sandbag at 50yds. The Federal was shooting low and right. I adjusted the rear, then back to the bench/bag with 5 shots on a fresh (well, slightly used) target. Much better!

So I tried offhand after putting up a target with better contrast. Five quick rounds, go check the results. Repeated 2 more times. I'm pleased with how I was able to keep focused while cycling the action. (I knew that one round in the second set went low...)

Also had fun shooting a hotplate I took off a commercial coffee brewer. Even painted red, this thing was hard to see in shadows and after 6pm! It's only about 5" in diameter, and I was seeing 2 blurry ones focusing on that front blade!

I know these reports don't show great marksmanship. I'm not producing quarter sized groups or such, and I'd probably have the squirrels laughing if I tried to hunt them. But I am having a good time, and writing it out like this helps me to remember what I did! 8-)

I'd be proud of those targets any day. Good shooting. Most of all, you are having a good time with a Henry rifle! Gotta love that. Happy shooting and keep the reports coming!

Me, too. Nothing wrong with those groups, especially your offhand group. That one is very good, in fact. As I've mentioned, before, with offhand groups, consistency is at least as important as group size and your group is nice and consistent. Very tough to keep those fliers and pulled shots out of an offhand group. Nice work.

Thank you, everyone. The feedback here is very encouraging, especially since I don't have a chance to get much in person. Almost every time I have been at the range, I've been the only one there!

That is when I like the range the best - "when no one is there" IT IS MUCH SAFER!
