I'm going to enjoy learning this gun! Here's my ghost ring sight (left) and the factory semi buckhorn. I cut and shaped it from mild steel bar stock.
Site seems to be OK. Load issue should be resolved now.

Punching paper 30-30 style
I recently bought a 1976 Winchester Model 94 in 30-30. I love my Henry 22, but wanted something more substantial -which it is!- and with a side gate for loading. Besides, Winchesters are descended from BT Henry's design, right?
I made a new rear blade, one that works like a ghost ring, to replace the factory semi buckhorn and tried it out tonight. I only put one box of 20 through it (Remington 170g Core Lokt), at about 80c/round, it adds up quickly! The sight works well for me. The holes marked with letters were offhand at 50yds, both eyes open. Once I get the windage set, I'll try moving back to 100 yds. (I forgot my targets this morning and had to use 4 little 8x8 ones from the club!)

Yes, nicely done. Love that you did your own rear sight. Very much in the backwoods kind of spirit. Goes with the rifle.
Have always had decent luck with those old reliable Remington Core lokts 30-30s, too. Affordable, too, compared to some of the premium factory loads.

A poor man's ghost ring/peep sight - very nicely done - almost looks like it was made by Winchester. By the way, I think John Browning designed your 1894 Winnie - and that is one classic rifle....
