Bugs Posted that report on the Apex trigger job and I was hooked like a bass on a Ribbet Frog... I ordered two kits and installed them in my Airweight 642 and the Smith and Wesson Military and Police 340. I'd never carry either one without testing them for function. I haven't been able to get to the range because it has been so hot. (100+ around here and humidity was brutal as well.) Got up this morning ... after it has rained off and on for two days and it was relatively cool. Took advantage and took both the little guys down to the range to make sure they still functioned properly with the lighter triggers (9 pound double actions vs the previous thirteen to fourteen pounds.) and see how accuracy has improved.

Let's get started. First thing, I set up a target frame with two repair centers. I'd be shooting the Airweight on the left and the 340 on the right. I set the target frame at about ten yards from the bench on the range house deck. Here are the stars of the mornings festivities, the Airweight 642 is on the left, and the M&P is on the right. I put the new Smith and Wesson grips on the 340. They fill the hands better and I know they look better, but I am sure that wood grip is going to smack the hand a little harder than the rubber Hogue did. To start out, I shot each revolver, five rounds slow fire, at ten yards to check and see how much the improved trigger improved the accuracy. The two targets show that they shot very well. These are not Johnny Ego quality targets, but I am very happy, remember, these are two inch snubbies and I was not trying for match groups. LOL.
The 642: The 340: Next I fired a rapid fire group from each, at five yards, firing as soon as I brought the front sight back on target and squeezing the trigger smoothly thru the travel. I don't have a timer, but these were pretty quick five shot groups. The ARROWS mark the second five shot groups. I was VERY happy, especially with the 340.
The 642: The 340: I am thinking that the BIG DOT sight on the 340 is giving it the advantage, in conjunction with it's better grips. Either way, it seems to be the better shooter. It has been my snubby carry choice for a while, and this result just reinforces that choice.

The 340: The 642: I shot another fifteen rounds with each gun to finish up the testing. The shots were fired at seven yards, slow fire. Both groups look good. I had one called shot out with the 340 that I pulled out. I am very happy with both trigger jobs. Everything was an improvement for the better in my book.

My daughter in OK called in the middle of the post and I forgot to add a comment. The new grips for the 340 do fill the hand and offer more control. Nice. But... they don't absorb recoil like the rubber grips... it's like having an angry nun smack your palm with a yardstick with every pull of the trigger.
