All Weather 45-70
All Weather 45-70
I took out the All Weather yesterday for a test drive. I had some loads that I had develpoed for the CCH 45-70. I used 5744 and a 405 MCB bullet in these loads I also had some Berrys 350 gr copper plated loads with the same charge of 5744. I didnt have much luck with the copper plated bullets or the 405 bullets as far as getting them to group to well. I really didnt expect it to shoot the same as they do out of the CCH as its rare to find a load common to 2 guns that are the same caliber. Im gonna work on loads for the all weather as I have the Berrys 350 and a Meister cast in 350 to play with. May try some Unquie again with those along with 5744 and some 4198. Even my hunting load for the CCH didnt do as well as in the all weather. But this load above did pretty good as this was shot off bags at 50 yards with irons. Ya I know its not a 5 shot group but IM cheap and this is factory ammo. This load was the lever evolution load of Hornadys. The 325 grain round. Like them or not I would take the gun to the woods right now with that round. More later Al

I'm a bit surprised at the grouping difference .... it will be interesting to see how the ones you dial in for you new Henry will work in your other one

Thanks for the report. Very interesting. Any one of those puts meat on the grill.
