Cimarron Henry 1860 rifle. Shooting 250 gr Winchester 45 Colt LFN.

Had the range to myself today. Not a bad day, 40 mph wind but that's pretty normal for here this time of year. Some ask, does it blow like that all the time in southern Alberta?...nope, sometimes it blows harder.

Shot 3 targets today, a couple of 8" round and a 12" square.

First, the 50 yd. Off hand, standing and of course iron sights. 21 of 24 rounds in the black. For an 8" hole at that distance in the wind I won't beat myself up too much. She's a looooong way looking down the 24" barrel to that little black spot down range with the wind chewing on you. The rifle gets smoother to shoot every time. Action is nice, and it LOVES this ammo. The sliding mag tube tab does not bother me at all, I never notice it. Barrel gets a little warm but never a problem. It would get hot if you shoot rapid fire; there's a reason the Rifleman didn't use a Henry.

Next, the 25 yd targets; the first one I shot was the 8" circle. I was pretty pleased with the result. A full mag tube is 13 rounds and I had all 13 in the money! :D
The other 25 yd target was the 12" square and another 13 rounds, but this time I was trying to place my shots. The one I was most happy with is the single shot on the center line between the two top diamonds....yes that one was on purpose! As usual, 250gr 45C slugs are target board destroyers....splinters were flying today!
What a cool rifle to shoot.

Excellent POIs in all targets! I especially like the 50-yard results. That 1860 Henry sure does well in your hands.

Yes to your rifle assessment: "The rifle gets smoother to shoot every time."
Great job, and glad you enjoy it so much.

Thanks guys. This rifle is my time machine. Load it up, cock the lever, see that first cartridge come up in the elevator and slide into the barrel and you are on your way to the old west. Every time. My Mrs believes in past life stuff, maybe there's something to it cuz I sure love shooting this rifle!

Yes, if I was born in 1857 I could have received a Henry for my 3rd birthday!
