STI - Elektra range report

This gun shoots way nicer than my Springfield Armory 1911 Range Officer compact. Quite a shock to me considering I'm a huge SA fan.
Had fun with shooting from the hip or without siting it. It came with a Crimson Trace laser system and I just put the laser on the target from any angle, pull the trigger and the shot goes where I expect. Boy am I having fun.
More information to follow.

Here's the first target. I started outside working my way in. I shot the 1911 first and then the STI. Once I got used to the STI I went for the center.
All of this was at 7 yards.
This one was after getting warmed up and a bit on the cocky side. I also used my XD on this target.
A group of enthusiasts (4) guys were at the entrance to the range as my buddy and myself were leaving. One was one of the LGS instructors. He invited me to be the 5th man and join their Speed Match get together they have every Monday night. I agreed and turned around and went back into the range with this group. I felt like a 10 year old amongst adults. But I got right in there and participated.
There were 3 tests, if you will. First was at 5 yards, 5 rounds, 12 seconds. 2nd was 2 5 round mags and 10 yards with 20 second timer. 3rd was full range 25 yards, 2 5 round mags and 20 second timer.
I did ok for the first time actually shooting "under pressure" instead just taking aim when I'm ready. I could get used to this.

You had me at STI.
Picked up a STI Trojan a few years ago, it's fed flawlessly with all my reloads and puts every bullet exactly where i point it.
I heard a while back that they are scaling back single stack production and discontinuing a lot of the more affordable of their single stacks. Very sad if true.

I am so glad I took the plunge. By far this is the nicest pistol I own and I have many. This is also the most expensive I have but I can see how price equates to quality. Plus, it makes me look like I have a clue at the range.
I just looked up your gun. Very nice!

Thank you, ace73. It was purchased on looks alone....(after several sleepless nights of drooling)
