Bought these two, recently, for their adjustable sights. These two are strictly range guns and those sights are a big plus because I can dial them in exactly where I wanted them for 50 yard work. Most fixed sight 1911s end up being way high or low by the time you move them out for 50 yard work.
Both Sigs Sauer 1991s, here. Top gun is one of their traditional series guns with a standard shaped 1911 slide. It's the Sig Match Elite in 9mm. Bottom gun is very Sig in it's 1911 style. It's the Sig Super Target in 45 auto.
Up, first, First, the Match Elite in 9mm. A 9mm 1911 is a great range shooter, by the way, because ammo is so cheap and recoil so mild. Just be sure to bring plenty of ammo.
Accuracy check at mid-range, to start. By the way, all my shooting with a handgun, any handgun, is from a standing position, unless otherwise noted. Don't even bother to rest them to sight in, anymore.
I use 3" bulls at this distance.
Then on out to 50 yards for regular work. I use 6" bulls at this distance.
Next, the Sig Sauer Super Target in my fav, the 45 auto. Obviously not a carry grip on this one, but that oversize grip makes for superb shooting. It also makes its own magwell that is deep enough to make a 10 round mag fit flush.
Again, accuracy check half way
Then on out to 50 yards for regular work
There you have it. As I said, these two are strictly range guns for specifically shooting at 50, but I shoot all types of 1911s, from the little 3" compacts on up.
