Cold day fun

Post by RanchRoper » Sun Nov 10, 2024 1:26 pm

Temps in the low 20's, made smoke with my Frontier caplock. Shot steel mostly but put a few on paper at 75 yds off hand. :)

Thanks Dave, in the over the shoulder photo you get a good view of the non-adjustable front & rear sights too. Shooting these old black powder guns; good or bad, it's all the shooter. :)

Your success with those old guns doesn't surprise me at all. You've always been an excellent marksman. Having 2 guns exactly alike doesnt hurt anything either with the only difference being ignition.

Funny you mention that. The Frontier's I have are very different to shoot.

Percussion cap loves 50 grains Triple 7 3F powder with a .490 ball, .010 patch. Best results.

Flintlock loves Goex 2F or 3F, 50 grains .480 ball, .010 patch or Schuetzen 3F, 70 grains, .480 ball, .010 patch. Any other combos not so good.

Nice shooting as usual, like the over the shoulder picture.

Well done, as always, RR, both with the muzzle loaders and camera. Great pic for sure.

You shoot as well at 75 yards as I do at 15. Good shooting my friend.
Keep at it.
