Not the best Range day I have had....But

did get some shooting in with my Charter Arms 44 Special Bull Dog revolver. Have not shot it in a long while so I loaded it with what I carry in it being 250 gr. cast full wad cutter from Matt's Bullets loaded with 5 gr. of Red Dot. A slow heavy sharp edge wad cutter is perfect from a short barrel SD type use. So 7 yds. back and in DA shooting put 5 rounds into center mass and then tried 5 in the head. This one shoots a bit low so had to hold a little high so aiming at head I had to aim above it loosing my windage point. Will trim the front sight a touch. Not too bad as the light revolver likes to jump a bit but close enough to take care of business. Nice big holes!
Now the bad. The drive belt on my lawn tractor departed just before I finished cutting the grass and I discovered another fire ant mound which will get nuked again. Don't know how those ants got into my property.

I've always liked 44 specials. It's a great cartridge.

Nuking fire ants sounds like a dangerous activity. Short of riding one down like Slim pickens, standoff ability sounds like a good idea. Do you use gasoline?

I have two more jugs of that super concentrate Orange oil that you mix with water and it dissolves those ants. What I do is mix it in two 5 gallon buckets at a much higher strength. I get in back of my truck with tailgate down and have a buddy slowly back me up over the mound area. A shock dump on the mound followed by a couple of holes punched in mound followed by another 5 gallon dump. Usually nukes anything in the mound area and runs into the tunnels. I will follow with a pesticide dust treatment in a wider area after the mound is dead.

Yep not too bad but best to stay with a center shot group.
