After work yesterday I loaded some of the new 165gr .309's that I bought from MBC over 9.4 grs. of unique, to try in a 30-30.
I was curious as to the difference in felt recoil between those and the 240 gr .380's over 10.0 grs of unique in the 38-55.
So to make the comparison a little more equal I pulled out the ole Winchester Classic which has a 20" octagon barrel.
This rifle has less than 50 rounds through it and is mostly a safe queen.

I bought it because it is the same model that my dad had when I was growing up.
This was also the first time I shot cast through it, and was pleasantly surprised.

Through it, pretty much no recoil what so ever.
Those 180 gr Pugnose that some of us so much like over 2400 have more recoil which in fact is very little in the Rossi with it's 24" pipe. So after that I put up a target and of course it was low, pretty low in fact but a decent group just the same from 55 yds. and comparable to what I got with the 38-55.

After that I came back in and pulled out the ole Winnie Ranger and it had just a wee bit more recoil than the classic, but still very pleasant.
