Was at the range on weekend during the snowstorm, we got over a foot of snow. 18F when I was shooting.

Here's a cool one, Frontier flintlock, .480 ball, .015 patch and 50 grains of 3F powder.

I put one on the steel plate at 150 yds off hand. :) Mostly just shoot the 50 to 100 yd steel but I thought I'd go for it. The plate is steel painted blue with a yellow middle. It's mounted on the far hill at 10 o'clock to the wooden target board on the right side of the 1st photo. That target board is at the 75 yd marker.

That would be very satisfying for a young guy too! :D

Just think what those old frontiersmen would have thought about that!

very nice indeed .... over time I've fired a great many .480 round balls and there is no way I can come close to your level of accuracy :!:

Thanks. Just ordered the maple caplock version of my maple Frontier flintlock. It will replace the walnut caplock I have. Should have it next week. :)

For me, I am able to control the recoil better with a 50 or 60 grain charge. Shot placement over power hit I guess.

It still dents the steel so I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end. :)

Wow, that's a heck of a shot.
Tell me about your sights, and how did you adjust, or where did you hold to make that hit?
And doing that in crazy cold conditions, great job!

Primitive fixed open sights on my flintlock.

My rifle shoot’s dead on for windage in calm conditions so just put the target behind the front blade instead of on top. Not real scientific, just have to know your rifle. I shoot a lot.

No I still have it. I'll likely hang on to it for a bit, trying to get my son into black powder.
