.357 Carbine shooting results

I posted earlier (incorrectly) in the rimfire forum about my Henry .357 carbine. I had a Skinner peep sight mounted on the receiver a couple of weeks ago so I took it to the range to see what it could do. Here's some inexpensive range ammo (New Republic) ammo at 50 yards. To get the Skinner peep sight to zero out, I had to replace the front sight with a .570" blade (also from Skinner). The rear sight is now right in the middle of its adjustment range. At my age I'm pretty happy with this result!

Nicely done for sure.
I'd take that at 50 all day long.
The ole 357 out of a lever gun is just so much fun.

That sure looks good to me!
Nice job getting the parts you needed to put your adjustments in the center of their range too.
I'll bet that carbine is handy as heck to carry around.

Very nice. Miss Tina was surprised at how nice the 357 carbine shot. She didn't like the 357 handguns, but loved the Henry and shot it well.

Nice to get the 357 dialed in. I too put on a skinner sight and front post as well and had improved results with my Henry. Had the best grouping with Barnes Pioneer 357 180grn rounds. I'll pick up more as I see them or when I make an order. At the cost thought I'll be using them for hunting only.
Keep having fun with your Henry!

What is your technique in drifting the front sights in and out. Did you have to ‘dress up’ the bottom of the skinner sight at all? Did the Henry sight drift out easily?

Any info would be appreciated.

This is what I use for adjusting or changing sights.

Very nice shooting, and that should put you pretty much at point blank on a baseball size target all the way out to almost 100 yards.
I had a receiver mount Skinner on my Big Boy, but the front sight was way too short. Good job getting yours sorted out.
