The range on Monday was busy with muzzle loader shooters getting ready for the early season. Had to wait a while to shoot but needed to shoot my Swift back in after having the scope and mounts off to mount another scope set up. I didn't like the new set up so I took it back off and put it back like I had it before. The range cleared out and I did get to shoot with no other shooters firing while I was shooting my Savage Swift and my 700 Classic 223. I was a little bit in a hurry to get it done and I think I forgot to dry the barrel completely on the 700 as the first shot was low right. Not usually like that with this rifle. This rifle has some pitting in the bore when I bought it but it will shoot with any center fire I own so I will just keep shooting it until it gives up. It has shown to have a preference for Sierra bullets over Hornady. Just my luck with several thousand Hornady and only a couple hundred Sierra. Not all is lost as the Swift is a rifle that shoots about any thing well. The left target shows my sighter shots after putting the scope and mounts back on. It looked good bore sighting so I thought it would be on the paper but it was off left so I moved it and then shot three and moved it to the right again and it was at the left edge of the circle with the next four in a single ragged hole with the Hornady 52 A-Max bullet it shoots well. Cooling the barrel on the Swift while shooting the 700 I then went back to the Swift with a Sierra53gr and they were in a dime but not as tight as the Hornady 52's. The 700 223 shot well with the loads I had for it. The bullet and powder it likes the best shot a 3 shot group that was a very tight at 1/4". I only shot three and saved one to measure the overall length because I changed it about .010 on this load and wanted to make sure what the OAL was so I can load more the same length. All groups could hit a dime and some smaller. I think there is room on a varmints head for several dimes so all is well.

Dimes pretty well cover all the groups with a few edges of holes showing.

I was shooting at 100yds. Most my working up loads is at 100 to I see what a rifle likes. Then when time permits I go some where to shoot 200 and 300 yds. I just hate making the trip to shoot that is more miles.

Your shootin' puts mine to shame.

Purty rifles and small hole in targets at 100 yards. It just doesn't get better than that.
Looking forward to the 200 to 300 yard report.

The Savage 220 Swift at the top of the picture has a Tasco(Japan made) 5-20x50. Very good scope but I wish it was on 44MM. 50MM don't do much for me.
The 700 has a Simmoms Whitetail Classic 6-18x44 and has been a exceptional scope on every rifle it has been on. I wish they still made them in the Philippines instead of China. It is every bit as good as the Philippines built Nikons.
