Some range time

Finally made it to the range yesterday to continue some load work. First up was my Ruger AR in 300 Blackout. I’ve been working with this rifle with different bullets and powders getting acceptable but not spectacular results. BigAl here recommended trying the Speer 125 gr TNT varmint bullet which was about the same as the others I tried. Al told me to bump the velocity up for superior accuracy. Well, he was right as seen below. Interesting in this AR which is very light the felt recoil with these loads was very noticeable. Gotta love a three shot one hole group at 100.
Next I shot my M1-A not for load test but to give the new cheek riser a try. The mount on an M1-A is very high and shooting without the riser was difficult. Happy to report this set up works fine. Good looking too.
Finally while still on the rifle range I decided to give offhand shooting a try. For this I selected my Henry 327 Fed Mag. I shot two 10 shot groups slow fire and as you can see, I ain’t no Ranch Roper. It was fun and I’m going to work on it more. Embarrassed to say these “groups” were shot at only 50 yards.
Then off to the handgun range to finish up some 32 H&R work with my Ruger Single Seven. I started this several months ago but was stopped with a squid load. In the meanwhile I picked up some Hornady 85 grain bullets to try along with the 100 grain I had loaded previously. My Single Seven liked the 100 bullets, especially at the upper velocities. My first shot with the 85 grain was such a soft “pop” than I feared another squid load but thankfully there was a nice hole in the target.
