Shotgun fun old and new....

Well today I took my new Stoeger 20 ga. coach gun out for the first shots and brought along a nice Taylor's 45 six shooter.
First two shots were 7 1/2 shot from 10 yds with right and left barrel just to see how it would pattern and the left barrel really shot a tight group compared to the right just about like it should. From then on I was shooting the steel with No. 4 shot...Triple Buck....and slug rounds. Took out a few water jugs too and of course I had to try both barrels at once!! Yeah you can feel the difference!!!
Neighbor Dave stopped by for some shot fun with his grandpa's 12 gauge LeFever double barrel made back in 1921. Now Dave said he had not shot it in a long time and I get a bit nervous when Dave drags an old one out the closet!! It shot very well right on target and no butt pad on this one.
In picture below I caught Dave just as he pulled the shot and you can see the green cactus target laying down when 7 1/2 shot did the job and the gun recoiled up with smoke!
My little 45 six shooter did a good job also one hand firing from 12 yds. with just holding it up there and shooting.
The Stoeger Coach Gun shot and functioned well !

Good report on the Stoeger. I'm liking them more and more.
I also have an antique Double Barrel 16 Gauge. It's about 98 years old and it concerns me a little using it. I just use light loads in it though and very rarely shoot it to boot.

I have an antique 16 gauge Husqvarna Double Coach Gun... Gunsmith said it's fine to shoot if I want, I just don't....
I love the gun, took it as a swap for a CCW class for a female student, she inherited it and didn't want it.
I had it as a wall hanger in the home office in VA, no space in the OK home office.

Oh now that is a nice one! Is it only rated for black powder?

the gunsmith said it was safe for standard modern birdshot shells. No magnum loads and he wouldn't recommend high pressure stuff like buckshot or slugs. I had seen some old pics of similar guns with full brass cased shotgun shells...
they may have been black powder, I can't remember.

Looks like the Stoeger will get the job done. I almost got one in 410 a few years back.

Spent some time today polishing up the barrel hinge and lockup points and a light chamber hone. Now it opens and closes with flick of wrist.

Thank you sir, I've taken a couple pheasants with the 12, nothing but paper and clay birds with the 410.
