357 Mag call to Action

Went to the range today and decided to shoot some clay birds. Not the flying kind, but those on hangers from my portable target set-up. I set out the target hanger at 25 yard and commenced to shooting the birds. Pictured below are the victims ready for destruction.

Here are the implements of their destruction. From top to bottom: Rossi R92, Henry BBS and Cimarron Pistolero. We show no mercy since these clay bird are an invasive species and need to he eradicated. Besides its fun watching them explode and crumble. If you hit them dead center you remove the center without shattering the bird. Just shows how tough these creatures are.

At 25 yds. it's a very tough shot with the handgun. But, the reward comes when you do hit one and pieces fly. 150 rounds of my reloaded 357 Mag. later and I conquered this batch of birds. Since this species multiplies rapidly i know I will be back reducing the population of this creature. :D

When I was done their was a pile of bodies below to target hanger. No pictures since this s a family orientated forum and children may be viewing.

Yes sir. With the rifle load, the Pistolero kicks a little harder than I would like. If I want to shoot the Pistolero say more than 50 rounds I'll bring along my 38 Spl. loads and they are fun.

Thanks for the range report. It's a lot of fun when you're using the same reloads in both your pistol(s) and your rifle(s) and hitting the target at various distances.

I shoot .357 158 gr. ZERO JSPs or JHPs with 13.9 H110. With this load, Hornady reported 1100 fps shooting an 8" Colt Python Revolver and 1550 fps shooting a 16" Rossi Model 92 Rifle.

My six inch SSA SmokeWagon Revolver has very little recoil; certainly not enough to matter; and my H006M has even less than that. Both are easy on these old bones and for their great fun factor... hitting the target at various distances, though some days can be a lot better or worse than others. ;)

Nice guns and nice pictures and you've done the right thing getting rid of invasives BUT there are also unintended consequences. In burning up that gunpowder you've contributed to global warming or climate change as it's now called. Not a flake of snow to be seen anywhere in those pics.

That is a nice setup for those clay birds Paul. Do you ever get just the center to pop out leaving the outer ring?

Yes a center shot will knock the center out cleanly. Then you can try and break the ring.

Wife and I found that if you put the big pieces in a crockpot overnight they are not half bad in the morning with coffee. You have to brush your teeth several times to get all the orange out of your mouth!
