Range Report: wheel gun flashes at dusk

Cofisher‘s post about muzzle flashes got me thinking I should do the same. My choice was a SA revolver so I could see not only the muzzle but also where the gap leaked. To increase the flas I went with hyper velocity. It was well worth the the time.

years ago I tried to take some night pictures of the flash of our 44 Mag .... ended up wasting a bunch of film, never could get the timing down

Nowa days one can do a frame grab from a digital video to get the flash.

sadly, for this one whose technology level can best be seen in the fact I still use a flip phone, something like that is way above my pay grade

I’m going to try it again tonight to get some pictures. I was thinking of getting up early before sunrise but my friend in Alaska called and we talked til 2 am.
On a side note I will be flying up in early July and camping along the Mackenzie River for 2 weeks.

Thanks. I now have four 2-week trips planned for 2023. Plus 30 to 35 days trips with my 9-passenger van.

First time shooting the Alaskan with some really hot Underwood 45 Colt +P 250 XTP rated at 1450 FPS.
