Cimarron 1871 Richards revolver Oct 4th

Tonight at the range. ok, go easy on me, this would be the first time this old cowboy ever shot a revolver. 12 yds, standing, and 1 hand. 30 rounds total of Winchester 250 gr LFN, same as I shoot in my rifle. 23 rounds on the 2 papers, the rest were in the wood. The gun is GREAT to shoot but it does have some kick. The sights are accurate I think, the shots all over the place were strictly me and I can't sue Mr. Uberti. I got a couple where they should be, but it's definitely challenging. I have new respect for the CAS or mounted shooter folks. It will take practice for sure. But you could not wipe the smile off my face anyway. It is like stepping back in time when you load, shoot and unload. Part of the experience is just knowing that this is old timey shooting from a bygone era. Loved it. The action is smooth, the weight is beefy, and the large army style grip fills the hand real nice. Looking down that long barrel is a cool feeling. The bullets send huge splinters of wood out the backboard, which is always a bonus! Awesome cowboy fun!!

Congrats on some fine shootin! No doubt you will develop a feel for the grip and tighten those groups up.

That's a good job for the first time with a handgun.

That 45 Colt is pretty tame out of the Golden Boy, but is a good handfull in a revolver huh!

I like my .44 magnums the same way.

I'm glad it is so much fun. I am looking forward to seeing more shooting results.

Sometimes we grip too hard with heavy shooters in anticipation of the recoil. I use a counter force grip with two hands. The fact you used one is remarkable.

It kicked for sure. But, with the understanding that ignorance and willingness have got me this far in life, I shot one handed. It wasn't pretty, and I'll give it another go this weekend.
