After the class room and written test we went to qualification range. I planned on bringing the glock 43 but the old kydex holster cracked, So I took sandies 38 snubby in leather holster and scored 24 hits out of a possible 25 so not to bad for a 2" barrel, used some 158 SWC , The class was actually very informative the instructor is a former LEO that knew his stuff

Glad the class was good. We just took ours last month and felt the same way. We took ours to be able to take advantage of the Reciprocity with the other states as Oklahoma is a Constitutional Carry state. In addition the class would teach us the ins and outs of Oklahoma CCW laws and nuances vs. Virginia. I also wanted to learn the Use of Force laws for Oklahoma. Biggest? In VA, if you can conceal it, you can carry it. In Oklahoma, you can't carry anything over 45 caliber. We both enjoyed the course and went the first part of this month and applied for the license. $200 gets you ten years.

When I took my class, I didn't have a centerfire handgun to use for the qual. The instructor normally doesn't allow rimfire for qual (not SC law, just his policy). Since I had qualified many times over the years in the military with a handgun, he let me use my Ruger MK I target pistol. Very accurate, but not well suited to the course of fire.

When he was going down the line counting up hits and scoring the targets he came to mine and started counting. After a second or two, he just wrote 100% on the target and moved on. Crazy thing is, I got a little nervous during the qual. Since I only ever used my Ruger at the range, and stored it empty, I never really used the safety much. It had gotten so stiff, that I had to be really careful to make sure it engaged. It loosened up about halfway through the qual, but I was nervous about getting a safety violation and blowing the qual.
