Range Report: birds head revolver
The sun is up.
That means I’m at the range. Morning light is the best time for shooting this north facing range.
The firearm chosen is this Cimarron with a birds head grip. It really feels good in my hand and I enjoy shooting any 1873.
This one is 38 Colt & S&W Special. It isn’t strong enough for 357.
I really enjoy loading and unloading these. Shooting is just an excuse to handle it. I don’t have much of this caliber so I don’t shoot it a lot. I would like one in rimfire.

Re: Range Report: birds head revolver
Like those little revolvers, and nearly bought one earlier this year.
I was lookin for something in 357, never found anything I liked.
Went back by the shop that had the 38, but it was gone.

I have the Uberti 357, love the way it sits in the hand.

Re: Range Report: birds head revolver
I have a few firearms that will shoot both although I shoot 38 the most. I’ll shoot a few 357 at the end just to keep the chamber opened up. I dug the Ranch Hand out after shooting the revolver. I didn’t shoot any 357 this time. I’m not even sure which ammo can it’s in.
Sorry about you gong chain.

Very nice bird's head. I have one (or two) on my wish list. Speaking of wishes, I would love to get one in 32 H&R, but not likely to see Uberti offer one. Uberti does offer a 32-20, which is very traditional, of course, but also impossible to find ammo to shoot it. Great round if you handload, though.

Nice lookin little Rossi there Gene.
No biggie on the chain, I'll just need to replace the bolt and it'll be good as new.
I'll replace 'em both with some grade 8.

Re: Range Report: birds head revolver
I had a Nagant M1895 with the 32H&R cylinder. Fun little round but it was my only firearm in that caliber. When I offered my friend any rifle, shotgun and pistol in my collection he chose my No 5 Jungle Carbine, Winchester 9410 and the Nagant M1895.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 10:09 amVery nice bird's head. I sold about 75% of my firearms in my move from Washington. Now I’m in the mood to buy. I want more 1873’s especially in rimfire. A few more birds heads would be nice.
I might add a few DA wheel guns too. I’ve never really cared for them but I see people, especially you posting range reports about them.

I'm still really wanting a Birds Head. My firearms purchasing has been on hold for a while now though because of other priorities.
An affordable Wrangler BH might be in my future. I really like the way that grip feels.

Re: Range Report: birds head revolver
Gene, we also sold off most of our regular guns a few years back. My DA revolvers are gone now and for handguns I only shoot single actions and specialty pistols like my Exemplar (in fact, just acquired another one). Hubby still has his Smith DA revolvers, a 617 22 LR and Smith 28 in 357 mag.
For rifles, only single shots and a few bolt guns and almost all rimfire, now. Like you, rimfire is the bulk of our cartridge gun shooting, now.
