Range Report: did someone say CZ
I’ve been so busy in the yard I haven’t taken much time to shoot. I read the thread about CZ’s and thought why not take a break from working.
Here is my 455 CZ Ulta-Lux in 22 rimfire. I was shooting CCI SV at a 3” spinner at 20 yards. Last time I shot I couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn. This time I surprised myself and was hitting it 7 or 8 times out of ten. This was my spinner not the one in the top photo on the right. That’s for pellets only. The other side was faded more so I turned it around. It made it a lot easier to see and aimed. I have to stay nearby because I was cooking some beans for dinner. My shooting area is just a few feet from my front door which is 20 feet from the stove. The beans won’t be done for at least another hour so it’s back to plinking.

More shooting out the back door. This time at 25 yards with elbows on the table. The target is upper center with the berm behind it.
Ten shots and only eight hits then I noticed two hits were doubles.
My cat likes to watch me out the window. The noise doesn’t scare her at all.

Now there's a combination for you, plinking and cooking. A mans got to eat and have some enjoyment. Have a great day Gene.

You get my vote for the range with loveliest view.
Good to see you out shooting that CZ. The UL with that ultra long barrel is a pretty amazing platform for shooting iron sights. Nice shooting, Gene.
One thing I like adding to my airgun shooting off of our deck is a little music and some coffee, since my computer and kitchen table are just a couple steps away inside the sliding door. Nothing like roughing it.

I’m having a custom shelving unit made so I can keep a few days shooting supplies downstairs. I was making too many trips upstairs today.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 6:53 pmYou get my vote for the range with loveliest view.![]()

This is my 452-2E American wearing a Nikon P-Rimfire. I like the bipod although it was too high in front so I used my computer footrest. Not ideal yet got the job done. Since I’m shooting uphill this is the approximate angle. Not bad for 50 yards. For some reason I had a good day. Edit: the Brewers are going to be playing in a few minutes. I know I said I was going to boycott them because they took our Seattle Pilots back in 1969. Guess I shouldn’t carry a grudge forever.

I think that’s the same for me. I saw a dietitian earlier this week and one thing I need to do is drink more water. I have been drinking 16 ounces of water four times a day in addition to anything else I drink. I wasn’t having vision problems today.

I gotta get me a CZ.

Good shooting. Love those czs
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

That is a beautiful setup, one I would love to have, but I hope you are being extra extra careful about keeping the picnic table, your hands and your kitchen lead free. Do you plan to clean out the berm every now and then?

I have a friend with a rural property where I shoot now and then, they have a similar setup but no pretty lawn where young kids might one day be exposed to lead, and no nearby cooking facilities….. I do enjoy your farm improvement pictures, please keep them coming.

That's a great group with that CZ American, Gene. Congrats.
John has a good point on the lead issue. I always wash my hands after handling pellets. The science says that most of the residue on your hands from handling pellets is actually the lubricant, not lead, but I still don't take chances.
I get similar advice on staying hydrated from my doctor since I am out riding bikes so much. All the exercise experts say if you wait till you are thirsty to hydrate when exposed to extreme conditions or when exercising, it's too late. You need to make it a point of staying hydrated on a regular basis.

Sometimes I’ve handled so much ammo my fingers are black. When I shoot and eat I always make sure I wash my hands. I’m more concerned with airborne lead. It’s one reason I don’t like indoor ranges. Wades indoor range in Bellevue was inspected one time and there so not only lead in the air but it was on everything in the store. Big lawsuit and I’m not sure how it turned out. I never cared for the store because the employees were all know-it-alls.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 11:41 amThat's a great group with that CZ American, Gene. Congrats.

That was a horrible situation, with guys operating heavy equipment to bust up the vast sand berm and remove 350,000 pounds of spent bullets, literally in a huge cloud of lead dust.
